These regulations are seen to be observed in the entries regarding the training of apprentices, admissions, and standards of goods produced. Scope and Contents

Formed in 1868, the membership of the Mortonhall Curling Club was drawn largely from local landed families and the legal profession. For most of the Club's exsistence curling took place upon a constructed 'deep water pond' flooded annually in the winter months, but in the early 20th century two adjacent 'artificial ice rinks' were added. The Club was dissolved in 1916.

The first series (folios 1-22) contains records of admissions to the Incorporation at various dates within the period 1677-1763. The second series (inverted folios 1-126) relates almost entirely to appointments of deacons, boxmasters, and other officers, and to audits of boxmaster’s accounts, 1724-1727, 1730-1832.
